Black Booth Christmas Charity Event 30 December 2012

Welcome to the inaugural Black Booth Christmas Charity Event gallery. To show our support to the community and to share the success of Black Booth photo booths in the past year, I have decided to travel to the Philippines to sponsor a Christmas party for approximately 100 less fortunate children and parents.

The Party was held at a popular local fast food outlet called Jollibee where the children and their parents enjoyed party games, prizes, delicious food and a small Christmas gift from Black Booth.

The children invited to this event are part of a local community support program called 'Cornerstone' that provide educational aid to children from low socioeconomic backgrounds in years 1-3 (from local public schools) who are having difficulty at school. The nonprofit program is run by voluntary teachers and coordinators (from Couples/Singles for Christ and the Ateneo Center for Educational Development) who offer a tutoring program that allow the children to develop the essential basic literacy skills to keep up with requirements of the primary school curriculum.

Unfortunately, due to the increasing demand of the public school system in the Philippines, many children with learning deficiencies are progressed through the levels of education even without basic reading or writing skills as holding them back another year will create a backlog with new enrollments.

This event would not be possible without the generous support of the Couples/Singles for Christ and Ateneo Center for Educational Development volunteers and teachers involved in the Cornerstone program and the generous donations from staff of the NSW Health Education and Training Institute.

On behalf of Black Booth photo booths and the children, parents and friends of those who attended this event,  I would like to thank all the people involved and contributed towards the Black Booth Christmas Charity Event. We are grateful for your time and generosity which has made a difference to the lives of many.

I hope that the children/parents not only saw this event as a reward for their hard work and progress in their education but also inspiration to one day give back to their community.

I look forward to continuing my service to the community and hope that your support will allow us to maintain an annual event.

Happy holidays!

Kind regards,
Jay Jacinto
